Michael Christensen
Field Agent | FICMy name is Michael Christensen; my wife and I have 6 kids and a small farm in Southwest Michigan. I am a convert to the Church, but as soon as I became Catholic, I knew I wanted to become a Knight of Columbus. I didn’t know anything about the Knights, except that my grandfather was a Knight, and I would get a cool sword. After joining, I learned that the Knights do so much for families and the community.
In 2022, I caught Covid and was in the ICU for 41 days. Coming out of the hospital, I was unable to work for several months as I recovered, and we survived solely off the generous donations to a Go Fund Me page. I realized that if I would have died, that is all my family would have had. I am eternally grateful for all that donated to that page, but it wouldn’t have been enough to provide for my family. I knew I needed to be more prepared for the unexpected. I needed life insurance.
Getting ahold of an agent isn’t the easiest thing to do, so I became one for the Knights of Columbus in May of 2023.
In June of 2023, I called my boss, Ken Huard, and said, “I quit”. I felt I wasn’t cut out for or qualified for the job. We had a long conversation, and he suggested that I give it a little more time. I asked God what to do. Two days later, my other job called, and let me know that I was going to be let go, because they had just lost a contract that they had had for over thirty years. My answer from God. This was my new full-time career. I believe in what I do, and I believe in why I do it. I want to protect your family just as I have protected mine.
